Kommunikationstrainings verbessern die Qualität einer patient*innenzentrierten Versorgung in der Onkologie. Im Rahmen der von der Deutschen Krebshilfe geförderten Studie „KommRhein Interpro“ zur Wirksamkeit von interprofessionellen Kommunikationstrainings für onkologische Teams wurde ein 10-stündiges, modular aufgebautes, fertigkeitenorientiertes Training entwickelt und in der Praxis erprobt. Über den Trainingsaufbau und die -inhalte hinaus enthält das Manual wertvolle Hinweise zur interprofessionellen Perspektive, einen Fundus an praktischen Übungen und deren Umsetzung im Online-Format. Diese Manual versteht sich als Praxis- und Umsetzungshilfe für kurze Kommunikationstrainings. Der ergänzende Theorieteil bietet einen fundierten Einstieg in das komplexe Thema sowie zahlreiche Literaturhinweise zur Vertiefung.

The contributions to this volume emerged from a seminar project that explored processes of translation, adaptation and performance and investigated moments of signification emerging from cultural, linguistic and medial borderlands. The podcast scripts, interviews and introductory reflections assembled here raise such questions as: What happens in the ‘spaces between’ that open up in processes of transposition, translation or intermedial transfer? How do those spaces influence the construction and consolidation of language and forms of articulation, how do they impact conceptions of identity and alterity? And to what extent do those borderlands of linguistic, literary and medial re-creation reflect back on the ever-shifting conditions of human existence and conviviality?

Die im Jahre 1961 von Dr. Fritz Meyer-Struckmann gegründete Meyer-Struckmann-Stiftung fördert Wissenschaft und Forschung, insbesondere im Bereich der Kultur- und Geisteswissenschaften. Seit 2006 schreibt die Philosophische Fakultät der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf den mit 20.000 Euro dotierten Meyer-Struckmann-Preis für herausragende geistes- und sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung aus. Er wird jährlich zu wechselnden Themen vergeben.

Der Meyer-Struckmann-Preis wird im Rahmen eines Festaktes von dem Vorsitzenden der Meyer-Struckmann-Stiftung und der Dekanin bzw. dem Dekan der Philosophischen Fakultät der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf verliehen. Die Festschrift mit den Reden und Impressionen der Preisverleihung wird begleitend herausgegeben.

Wordwynn is a textbook of Old English that concentrates on the Old English language as a medium of everyday communication. It wants to enable its readers to form and speak a stock of simple Old English sentences in basic speech situations. If you read all the texts and do all the exercises, at the end of this language course you will be able to answer in OE a personal questionnaire.

Of course, this book is also meant to teach some basic Old English grammar and vocabulary. In this book, Old English grammar is not taught in a systematic way. In the grammar tables at the end of the book, at least the nouns, adjectives and pronouns are never treated in an isolated way as in traditional grammars, they are always embedded in whole sentences. It is not necessary to present the grammar tables to the participants of a Wordwynn course in a fixed sequence. The teacher is free to use them whenever he thinks it is suitable. But you can be sure that at the end of the language course, the participants will know the most important things about OE grammar.

All lesson texts have been spoken and recorded by the author. In each lesson you will find an audio button X that you can click on to get to the respective audio file.

This book is suited to self-learners and to students of Old English classes as well. The learners don't need any additional material to be able to understand the lesson texts or to do all the exercises. All Old English and Modern English sentences in the exercises are translated into Modern English or vice versa in the keys. And all words in the word lists are explained as to their grammatical form. This book might be also interesting to all people who learned Old English in the past and want to refresh there knowledge of Old English in an entertaining way.

Teachers can use this book as the basic textbook in an Old English class. They are also free to use additional material. They can also use this book as a companion to another textbook of their own choice.

Wordwynn wants to be a gōd gefēra 'good companion' to all people who enjoy reading and speaking words and sentences in the beautiful language of Old English.

The second volume of the series Yiddish: Editions & Research, presents the poetry of Avrom Sutzkever (1913 – 2010), one of the greatest Yiddish writers of the 20th century. The themes of his work span his early childhood in Siberia, youth in Vilna, Lithuania, the catastrophe of the Holocaust, and a new life in Israel. Sutzkever is a modernist poet of great originality whose work is rooted in the cultural heritage of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe.
This is the first bilingual edition of Sutzkever ’ s work to present a substantial selection of poetry from all periods of his creative life. A previously unpublished lecture by the poet sheds light on his poetic credo and a literary-biographical essay by the translator, Heather Valencia, together with notes on the poems, make this literary oeuvre accessible to a wide readership.

Das Doppeljubiläum der Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Düsseldorf (250 Jahre Landesbibliothek – 50 Jahre Universitätsbibliothek) lädt dazu ein, den Blick auf ihre bisherige und zukünftige Entwicklung zu richten. Diese Festschrift beleuchtet die Geschichte ihrer frühesten Vorgängereinrichtung, die 1770 begründet wurde und im 19. Jahrhundert den Namen »Königliche Landesbibliothek« erhielt. Über mehrere Änderungen der Herrschaftsverhältnisse und über die Besatzungszeit während der Koalitionskriege hinweg wurde sie erhalten und durch die Auflösung der regionalen Klöster und Stifte in der Zeit der Säkularisation erheblich vermehrt. Trotz dieses umfangreichen Bestands, der auch zahlreiche kostbare Handschriften enthielt und sich über alle Wissensbereiche erstreckte, und trotz einer großen Nutzerschaft aus den örtlichen Akademien und Schulen sowie dem Adel und Beamtentum rangen die Leiter der Bibliothek weitgehend vergeblich um eine feste Verortung und eine angemessene Ausstattung. Diese konnten erst im Jahr 1904 durch die Übernahme in kommunale Trägerschaft erreicht werden, unter der die Einrichtung als Landes- und Stadtbibliothek fortgeführt wurde.

Achievement-orientation is a powerful global discourse that impacts on all aspects of social and individual life. Whereas the 'achievement principle' was intensely debated in the mid-twentieth-century as part of a framework of rationalisation and global progress in economics and the social sciences, it has attracted research across a wider disciplinary spectrum in the twenty-first century. What remains problematic about these debates is their implicit limitation to Western contexts and perspectives. Achievement-orientation, however, and its manifestation in meritocratic principles permeates and informs cultural narratives across the globe that impact on social and individual lives in multiple ways.

It is present in African societies and in communities across the African diaspora. This collection of short essays seeks to initiate a conversation that can help generate a better understanding of the ways in which achievement and merit are defined, negotiated, represented and embedded, and of the connotations they carry in African contexts, among African social groups and strata, and in communities across the African diaspora, especially in Europe. The collection thus draws attention to the existence of a diversity of concepts of achievement prevalent in these contexts and to embark on explorations into the question of their relations.
